PLANTS & FLOWERS

NATIVE PLANTS AND FLOWERS PROVIDE PROPERTIES WITH BOTH VISUAL APPEAL AND WILDLIFE HABITAT ALL YEAR LONG.

We are proud to offer landscape services with 100% native plants that provide habitat to important pollinators and other native wildlife to balance local ecology. Our native plant selections are designed to have something blooming and of interest in every part of the garden throughout the entire growing season, even during winter. We specialize in pollinator and butterfly gardens, as well as rain gardens for any areas on your property that gather water. Most of the plants in our palette are low maintenance and drought resistant because of their regional heritage, which means that they require less work and little to no watering.

SHRUBS & TREES

A WELL POSITIONED SHRUB OR TREE IS THE KEY TO A BALANCED DESIGN AND FUNCTIONAL ECOSYSTEM.

From bright spring blooms of Dogwoods and Redbuds to the stark crimson of the Redtwig Dogwood in winter, our native shrubs and trees are sure to gather interest all year long. Not only do shrubs and trees provide depth to a landscape and give it a more rounded, natural look, they are often a food and a habitat source for the local wildlife. For those looking to attract more songbirds to their property, you’ve come to the right place for landscape services. Every design and installation that Greenscape Geeks does for our clients involves a delicate balance between aesthetic and ecosystem.

MULCH & FINISHING MATERIALS

NO SPACE IS COMPLETE WITHOUT THAT FINAL ATTENTION TO DETAIL THAT CATCHES THE EYE AND SOFTENS THE SPACE.

At Greenscape Geeks, we choose to use the highest quality natural mulch and finishing materials because they are better for our clients and better for the environment. Many commercial types of mulch and materials come packed full of dyes and chemical seals to make the product more attractive and slow the rate of decay.

While pretty on the outside, the inside delivers an ugly dose of chemicals into the soil. We get all of our natural mulch and finishing materials from local suppliers. Whether you are xeriscaping your landscape or simply mulching beds, you’ll get the best quality organic materials for landscape services.

PRAIRIE RESTORATION

We geek out over prairie land and want to see it restored to its former, swaying-in-the-breeze glory! Prairies provide a host of benefits to the local ecosystem: food and shelter for wildlife, as well as soil conservation for sustained agricultural needs.

Our landscape designers are passionate about working with clients to create ecologically sound grasslands for any size property. Whether building an urban microprairie or converting large commercial spaces, we have the skill and expertise for all landscape service needs. Let’s rebuild low-maintenance havens for wildlife together.

FOOD GARDEN CONSULTATION & INSTALLATION

As concerns rise about agricultural pesticides, the trend toward starting community food gardens continues to grow. In addition to other landscape services, our geeks can assess properties to determine the best placement for gardens. The team will clear the area, amend the soil, plant the crops, and assist throughout the entire growing season.

We want to make sure your food is healthy and free of pests! If you have extended concerns about contaminated soil in inner urban areas, we can also construct raised garden beds to suit your needs.

RAIN GARDENS

A rain garden is a shallowly depressed soil bed with mounded dirt gradients around the perimeter that allows excess rainwater to be quickly and effectively drained into the soil. This drainage, in turn, feeds back into a natural underground water store, or aquifer. Rain gardens are a foundational part of many of our landscape services.

Many of these types of gardens qualify for conservation grants that can cover up to 50% of the project cost. We would love to help you navigate through the application process and to defray the costs of your dream rain garden. Read more about conservation districts here!

“We are so happy with the work the Greenscape Geeks team did on our garden this summer! Friendly and knowledgeable staff and a quick install. It was important for us to work with a company that uses high quality Indiana natives. They let us be involved every step of the way and met our needs and budget. We went from a boring grass yard and sinking brick patio that flooded every time it rained – to a beautiful, functional, and native Indiana rain garden, gravel patio, and fire pit!”

“We had Greenscape grade and level an area for our hot tub placement. They did an OUTSTANDING job! Looks great, perfect attention to detail. Gave recommendations on how to complete it based on our needs. Once I contacted them, they responded promptly, came out to look at the site the very next day, and had me an estimate in no time at all. I would highly recommend Greenscape. Thank you for helping us with our project. Definitely will use for future projects.”

“Greenscape Geeks did an AMAZING job reseeding and landscaping my backyard with native plants. I had a smaller budget and they were able to work with it giving me several options. My grass looks great and the pollinator plants have attracted the bees!!! 10/10 recommend!”
